Craniosacral therapy started life as an offshoot of Osteopathy over a hundred years ago, but in that time has developed into a unique therapy in itself.
The defining nature of Craniosacral therapy is a very light 'listening' touch. The practitioner uses this light touch to become aware of how different parts of the body, and the person as a whole have had to adapt to the different experiences of life.
From there, the practitioner can then help support the body's own innate healing process by allowing these more dense, held areas of the body to soften, unravel and eventually release.
Although research into the full efficacy of Craniosacral therapy treatment is still in its early stages, there are a number of studies available to show that it may be of benefit for the following conditions:
Please note that this is only a list for which there is research-based evidence of effectiveness.
Please contact me to enquire about my experience in treating other conditions not listed here, and whether Craniosacral therapy may be helpful for you.
Craniosacral therapy can also be an effective treatment for trauma and trauma-based symptoms.
Craniosacral therapy has become particularly well known for its treatment of babies and children. This is in part due to its gentleness, and also due to the fact that babies and children often require significantly fewer treatment sessions than adults to bring about relief.
Please contact me to see if Craniosacral therapy may be effective for your baby or child.
